Climate change - fact or fiction? In a media full of hype, hoax and hyperbole, who do you believe when it comes to getting the REAL facts on our environment. Well, you ask a real climate scientist of course. Here's some of the scientists from the 'Climate Scientist Rap' and more....  Dr Jason Evans - University NSW, Australia. Senior Lecturer and ARC Australian Research Fellow Studies the impact on water resources of changes in climate and changes in land-use. He uses various tools to examine the changes including regional climate and surface hydrological models, satellite remotely sensed and in-situ data and stable isotope analysis.  Dr Katrin Meissner University NSW, Australia. Senior Lecturer, Future FellowStudies abrupt climate change events, as well as thresholds and feedbacks in the climate system. She uses Earth System Climate Models in conjunction with paleoclimate records to improve our understanding of the basic mechanisms underlying climate variability and climate change, particularly in the context of terrestrial biogeochemical cycles and ocean circulation.  Prof Roger Jones Professorial Research Fellow at the Centre for Strategic Economic Studies (CSES) at Victoria University Trained as a physical scientist, he now applies an interdisciplinary focus to understanding climate change risk, bridging science, economics and policy, particularly in developing methodologies for assessing adaptation and mitigation strategies for managing climate change risks.  Dr Ailie Gallant Postdoctoral Research Fellow, University of Melbourne, Australia. Interested in detection of and understanding the processes driving climatological variations in extreme and regional weather; high-resolution palaeoclimate reconstructions of the Australasian climate and hydroclimate; refining techniques for more robust palaeoclimate reconstructions.  Dr Leanne Armand Senior Lecturer, Macquarie University, Australia.Interests lie within phytoplankton taxonomy (diatom), distribution and ecosystem relationships. Using ecological information about Southern Ocean species to determine palaeo sea ice cover, sea surface temperature and therefore Southern Ocean climatology. One of three leading researchers in the field of Antarctic sea-ice reconstruction.  Dr Linda Beaumont Post-doctoral Fellow, Macquarie University, Australia.Interested in the potential for climate change having drastic consequences on species and ecosystems using an integrated approach to understanding the complexity of climate impacts by using a combination of laboratory experiments, bioclimatic modelling and fieldwork. |
